Profile Information
The Healthcare Innovation Centre (HIC) is a research centre of excellence in healthcare technologies that draws on existing strengths at Teesside University and TWI, U.K. Our mission is to undertake interdisciplinary research to develop new interventions, tools and therapies for health and social care. We work collaboratively with end-users, industrial and practice partners to help adopt healthcare technologies, improve quality of life and create economic growth. Our core research areas include rehabilitation and assistive devices (prostheses, implants, pain management, assistive technologies), Diagnostics and Advanced Therapeutics (low-cost diagnostics, predictive models, bioprocessing, engineered solutions for biology), and digital health (decision support dashboards, intelligent companion, VR and gaming). These areas are underpinned by key capabilities in: engineering and materials; modelling, computing and validation and systems development.
