Academic Biography

I am the newest member of the Animation team, starting February 2024. I am  currently a lecturer in 2D and Stop Motion Animation within the school of Computing, Engineering and Digital Technologies.

I have over 12 years experience within further education teaching the complexities and different methods of animation to an array of different level of learners. I have also been working as a freelance animator and graphics designer.

I have a combined skill set of traditional stop motion alongside the more digital 2D skills. I enjoy tinkering with software but i also enjoy the craftmanship of making with my hands. I have always believed animation is the conduit to help simplify the complexities of the world around us.

I studied Ba Hons Animation and Design at Sunderland university and have studied for my Masters in Education with a post graduate certificate. My current focus is completing the PGCLTHE course for teaching in higher education.

I am a proud father of an adopted son which has expanded my vision of the uses of animation. My current focus is to create a series of stop motion workshops that will help and support care experienced children understand their identities.
