Academic Biography
Dr. Ali Abdelhafeez Hassan earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom at 2017. Prior to relocating to the United Kingdom, Ali obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2007 from Assiut University in Egypt. Subsequently, he successfully completed his MSc in Mechanical Engineering in 2012 at Assiut University, Egypt.
Throughout his postgraduate career, Ali had several posts at the University of Birmingham (UoB) and the University of Nottingham (UoN), including serving as a Research Fellow at the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre at UoN and as a Research Officer for Subtractive Manufacturing at UoB. Since 2008, Ali has not only conducted research but also taught and co-supervised a significant number of undergraduate and postgraduate students in different academic roles.
Ali's industrial experience was developed via collaboration with prestigious enterprises such as Rolls-Royce, AIRBUS, JLR, and others in the UK. His practical experiences include CAD/CAM, surface integrity analysis, and characterization post-machining. He also has expertise in designing tooling and fixturing for manufacturing processes, as well as modelling and digital twinning of manufacturing processes and systems.
Ali has the professional registration at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers as a chartered engineer (CEng MIMechE).
