Academic Biography

Dr. Ali Abdelhafeez Hassan obtained his Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from University of Birmingham, UK on 2017. He had got his BSc in Mechanical Engineering on 2007 from Assiut University, Egypt. Following that, his MSc in Mechanical Engineering was accomplished on 2012 from Assiut University, Egypt.

During his postgraduate life, Ali worked at different positions at University of Birmingham (UoB) and University of Nottingham (UoN) including Trainer of ABAQUS for postgraduates (UoB), Research Fellow at Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UoN), Research Officer for Subtractive Manufacturing (UoB). In addition to research, Ali has teached and co-supervised Mechanical Engineering undergraduates and postgraduates since 2008.
His practical experiences include CAD/CAM, surface integrity analysis and characterisation following machining, Design of tooling and fixturing for manufacturing processes and analysis (numercial and analytical)  of manufacturing processes.

Summary of Research Interests

  • Machining of advanced materials and aerospace alloys.
  • Hot isostatic pressing of metallic powders (HIP-ing).
  • Additive Manufacturing.
  • Tooling and fixturing for manufacturing processes.
  • Sheet Metal forming.
  • CAD/CAM.

Academic Achievements

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Ali’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
