Academic Biography

Amy joined the team at Teesside University in October 2024, as a Lecturer in Pharmacy. She is working closely with the Pharmacy@TU team to develop and deliver teaching materials for the MPharm course.

Amy came to the University from a practice background, having spent 13 years working as a Pharmacist for the NHS. In recent years Amy has specialised in the provision of care for older people, and is passionate about medicines optimisation and person-centred care.

Amy is a UK-registered Pharmacist and qualified Independent Pharmacist Prescriber, with many years of experience prescribing across primary and secondary care settings.

Her educational experience includes the creation and provision of bespoke training programmes for diverse staff groups from both health and social care settings; and workplace-based training for early years Pharmacists.

Learning and Teaching Interests and Activities

Amy is completing her PgCert Learning and Teaching in Higher Education through Teesside University, which started in January 2025.

Amy is excited to bring dispensing to life for the MPharm students, through the use of the virtual dispensing software MyDispense, which will be utilised for teaching a wide range of skills from dispensing to prescribing.

Amy is passionate about Inter-Professional Education and will be working to develop exciting and innovative IPE opportunities for the MPharm students.

Amy will be working with the MPharm course team to explore the ethical use of AI in pharmacy teaching.
