Academic Biography
Barry leads the Numeracy branch of the Student Success Team, supporting students to develop their numerical and mathematical skills to ensure they are able to achieve their aspirations at university and beyond. He has particular interest in calculus and Newtonian mechanics.
Barry has a wealth of experience in teaching and supporting mathematics at all levels as well as substantial knowledge of educational management and leadership in the Secondary and FE sectors. He has significant experience in the mentorship of early career teachers, particularly those in mathematcial or scientific fields.
He is constantly updating his own knowledge in order to best support students and has several qualifications in Mathematics, Education and Leadership. He is currently studying towards his Professional Doctorate (PhD) at Teesside University with a particular focus on educational policy and its impact on mathematical learning.
