Academic Biography

Dr Bisrat Wolde is a highly motivated academic and researcher with a PhD in chemical and process engineering from the university of Leeds. his doctoral research focused on developing innovative mathematical models to address complex particle-laden turbulent flows, with applications in the nuclear industry for safer and more cost-effective waste management and decommissioning processes. He also holds an MSc in web science and big data analytics from University College London (UCL), where they specialised in applied machine learning, statistical natural language processing, and data mining. Their academic foundation is further strengthened by a first-class BSc (Hons.) degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Kingston University London, which enhanced his analytical rigor and statistical expertise.

Currently serving as a lecturer/tutor at Teesside University London. He teaches MSc and BSc-level modules, including machine learning, deep learning, big data, statistics for data science and algorithm and data structure. His teaching emphasises practical problem-solving, enabling students to engage with industry relevant projects and acquire in-demand coding and analytical skills. He also deeply involved in supervising Master's projects, guiding students through innovative and interdisciplinary research initiatives.

He brings a wealth of industry experience to his academic role. At the Urban Dynamics Lab at UCL, he developed predictive models and interactive geospatial tools to optimise urban planning for London's cycle-sharing scheme. Prior to this, he tenure at the FDM Group included delivering high-impact Java development and data analytics projects for leading clients such as Barclays and Sky, where he demonstrated technical excellence, stakeholder collaboration, and adaptability in dynamic environments.

With a strong command of Python (Machine Learning, NLP, Scikit-Learn, Pandas, Matplotlib) and advanced programming tools (Java, SQL), he integrates cutting-edge technology into research and teaching. Passionate about fostering innovation and equipping the next generation of data scientists and engineers, he continue to contribute to advancements in machine learning, data visualisation, and simulation modelling.
