Burak Cavdaroglu is a Senior Lecturer in Business in the Department of Leadership, Management and Human Resources. He acquired his doctoral degree from the Decision Sciences and Engineering Systems program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), USA. Dr. Cavdaroglu has more than 10 years of experience in teaching and research. Before joining Teesside University, Cavdaroglu served as Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering at several universities in Turkey.
Dr. Cavdaroglu's broad research interests lie in the areas of combinatorial optimization, network modelling and optimization, metaheuristics, and timetabling. His research addresses practical problems at the interface of disaster management and sports management with an emphasis on infrastructure restoration and tournament scheduling, respectively. His research has yielded papers that were published in prominent journals such as the European Journal of Operational Research, Computers & Operations Research, Annals of Operations Research, and Operations Research Letters. Dr. Cavdaroglu employs both mathematical and empirical methodologies in formulating and analysing management problems, and actively seeks industry collaborations for developing practically relevant research questions.
Operations Research, Optimization, Decision Analysis, Network Flows, Supply Chain Management, Facility Layout and Design, Statistical Quality Control, and Systems Simulation are some of Dr. Cavdaroglu's teaching portfolios. He is currently teaching on various under-graduate post-graduate modules at Teesside University. He also supervises under- and post-graduate dissertations.
