Academic Biography

Covadonga is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage researcher at Teesside University. Her Ph.D. project explores the ground-level realities of border policing through an ethnographic study of Frontex. Trained as a lawyer, Covadonga is interested in officers' understandings of the law as well as the effects of the growing presence of human rights on everyday border policing.

She holds a Law Degree from the University of Oviedo (Spain) and a LL.M on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law from Viadrina European University (Germany). 

Research interests: critical border studies, sociology of policing, human rights, migration, socio-legal studies
