Academic Biography
Dawn gained her MA in Education at Teesside University while working as programme leader for Initial Teacher Education at New College Durham.
She has worked within teacher education since 1998 at Bishop Auckland College and New College Durham before moving to Teesside University in 2008. Dawn is responsible for the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education: Education and Training and also teaches on the Early Years undergraduate degree.
Dawn has an interest in creative and innovative teaching strategies which include the use of learning technologies and media to enhance student experiences. She co-authored a book titled ‘Learning to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector’ with colleagues from Teesside University. The book is aimed at students who are working towards their initial teaching qualifications and those working in the sector.
Dawn currently works full time as a Senior Lecturer and has other outside responsibilities as a Primary School Vice Chair of Governors.
