Academic Biography
Douglas Adu has over 15 years of experience in teaching, research, and leadership in academia. He is a Certified Compliance Officer (CCO). Douglas is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Before joining Teesside University International Business School (TUIBS), Teesside University, Douglas worked at Kemmy Business School, University of Limerick, Ireland.
Prior to becoming an academic, Douglas spent over 10 years in the banking sector where he held management positions in different functions such as trade operations, treasury sales, credit risk, retail banking and international trade. In his last role, he managed over US$10 million loan portfolio for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana.
Research Interests and Scholarly Activity
Dr Adu's research focuses on carbon and biodiversity accounting, environmental social and governance (ESG) disclosures and performance, executive compensation, corporate governance and business ethics, bank risk-taking and bank competition.
Contribution to policy making
