Elaine is the Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching at Teesside University Business School. She is responsible for portfolio development and delivery within the School as well as having strategic oversight of learning and teaching for the School. Elaine's teaching focus is in the areas of strategy, leadership and organisational behaviour. Her current research area focuses on organizational citizenship behaviour, the main focus of her doctoral project.
Elaine’s diverse skills and interests are reflected in her educational background. She graduated with a BSc in Mathematics from Northumbria University and later achieved a distinction in her MBA at Teesside University. Her MBA dissertation focused on Partnership Effectiveness within Sport and resulted in her securing a role with a Management Consultancy firm leading on a project with Sport England.
Elaine’s career pathway includes recruitment consultancy, service development and leadership and project management. Prior to joining the teaching team at Teesside University Elaine worked with clients across the public, private and third sector as a Management Consultant supporting the development of organizations, teams and wider partnerships. Projects focused on strategy and business growth and as such Elaine focused much of her attention on the development of skills in others and worked with senior teams and their staff to build capacity and enable the embedding of systems and skills to support sustainability.
Her hands-on understanding of strategic, managerial and organisational challenges and opportunities translates directly to her startegic role fo the School and University and also her work with students in the classroom and consultancy with external businesses is something she continues in her current role. Throughout Elaine’s career she has focused on the development of relationships to achieve results and believes this is a key factor in organisational success. In a previous role as a Project Manager at Tees Valley Sport, Elaine helped the organisation to establish partnerships with several communities. Although these were set up a number of years ago, many of these relationships remain strong today.

Elaine is currently completing her doctorate and is exploring the concept of extra-role behaviour within the Higher Education sector. Specific research interests include:

Elaine is an active member of the business engagement team within the school and works closely with businesses on a range of consultancy projects. Recent projects include:

- Inspire to Learn - Partnership and Strategy Development
Elaine also works closely with the University's central enterprise team on projects such as Leading for Growth and contributing to Leadership Masterclasses.
