Academic Biography
Elilarasi Kanthasamy is a Lecturer in Civil Engineering and Project Management with a specialization in Structural Engineering at Teesside University’s School of Computing, Engineering, and Digital Technologies. She completed her PhD in Structural Engineering at Northumbria University, UK, in 2024 and holds a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, awarded in 2018.
Before joining Teesside University, Elilarasi held various academic and research positions at Northumbria University, including Associate Lecturer, Academic Assistant, Demonstrator, Senior Research Assistant, and KTP Associate. Her research has involved significant work on structural performance, including fire performance analysis of steel panels with Intelligent Steel Solutions Ltd. Additionally, as a KTP Associate on AKTP Projects, she investigated the structural performance of cold-rolled steel sections in collaboration with Doby Verrolec. Elilarasi also gained nearly three years of industry experience as a Design Engineer and Structural Engineer at The Home Engineers in Newcastle.
