Academic Biography
Dr Eman Omairey joined the School of Computing, Engineering and Digital Technologies at Teesside University in June 2022 as a lecturer in Civil Engineering. Before that, she worked for nine months at Leeds Beckett University as a degree apprenticeship assessor in Civil and Building Services Engineering. She obtained her PhD in Highway Engineering from Aston University in 2021 under the supervision of Dr Yuqing Zhang. Her research contributions include: developing a Finite Element modelling framework to predict oxidative field ageing of asphalt pavements under Multiphysical environmental conditions using a time-dependent weak-form partial differential equations approach; experimental characterisation of anti-ageing modified bitumen using ageing-related kinetics; and feasibility of waste plastics for bitumen replacement using chemical and mechanical experimentation. Eman was awarded a full PhD grant from Schlumberger Foundation (2018-2021) and Newton fund (2018). She also has MSc and BSc in Civil Engineering and held several academic roles in this field.
Dr Omairey’s research interests lie in finding innovative solutions to incorporate modern technology into the pavement industry to create resilient, sustainable future roads. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), a graduate member of the Institute of Civil Engineers (GMICE) and a peer reviewer for several scientific journals.
