Academic Biography
Dr Farkhandah is currently a Lecturer in Computer Science within the Department of Computing & Games at Teesside University. She was awarded her PhD in 2023 by the School of Computing and Digital Technology at Birmingham City University, UK. Her doctoral thesis, “Object Manipulation Using Speech Interaction to Support People with Physical Impairments”, investigated different speech interaction techniques to assist users with physical impairments in manipulating objects on a design canvas. She also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Artificial Intelligence and Human Systems (AIHS) group at Durham University, UK. During her time there, she contributed to the UKRI Trustworthy Autonomous Systems (TAS) Hub‑funded project, “Conversational Agents for Older Adults”.
