With a career dedicated to interdisciplinary education and global health, Faye has significantly advanced chiropractic education, public health, and interprofessional learning. She holds a Master of Science in Public Health and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Chiropractic, and is recognized as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Faye is currently pursuing a PhD focused on exploring U.K. National Musculoskeletal Health Policy and its implementation into Integrated Care Boards, further solidifying her commitment to public health research and policy development.
Faye’s academic journey was shaped by early internships in Malawi and Chile, where she worked in resource-limited settings. These experiences deepened her understanding of global health disparities and inspired her to integrate global health perspectives into her teaching and leadership roles. As the Chiropractic Academic Placement Lead, Faye designed and implemented the UK’s first formalized chiropractic placement model. This innovative model, which integrates clinical practice with academic learning, provides students with real-world experiences while fostering a supportive community of practice.
Faye has also been instrumental in establishing international collaborations. She played a key role in creating a Memorandum of Understanding between Teesside University and Universidad del Desarrollo in Chile, leading to an unprecedented public health research mobility program at the Centre of Global Intercultural Health.
Through her teaching, research, and leadership, Faye Deane continues to drive innovation in healthcare education and advocate for integrating chiropractic and public health practices globally, making her a respected leader in the field.
Faye’s expertise in public health has earned her national recognition. As a Board Member of the British Chiropractic Association and a leader within the World Federation of Chiropractic’s Public Health Committee, she has advocated for integrating chiropractic care into mainstream healthcare. She organized and helped lead a Roundtable at Westminster to gather stakeholder views on this integration, solidifying her reputation as a national leader in the field.
Faye has also reached broader audiences through her public health advocacy. She was featured on the BBC’s The One Show, where she discussed the use of AI exoskeleton suits to prevent musculoskeletal work-related injuries, showcasing her ability to communicate complex health topics to the public.
