Academic Biography

Dr Gatheeshgar Perampalam is currently a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering in the School of Computing, Engineering and Digital Technologies at Teesside University. Dr Gatheeshgar Perampalam completed his PhD in Structural Engineering at Northumbria University, UK in 2021 and completed BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering with first class honours from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2017.

Dr Gatheeshgar Perampalam has served as several academic (Associate Lecturer, Academic Assistant, and Demonstrator) roles and research related (Senior Research Assistant/Research and Development Engineer) roles for industry related consultancy projects at Northumbria University. As a Senior Research Assistant, he investigated the fire performance of light gauge steel floor and wall panels of Intelligent Steel Solutions Ltd, Redbrooks Specialist Contracts Ltd, and New Ways Ltd and provided appropriate design solutions.
