Academic Biography

Geetika Aggarwal is a  'Lecturer'  at the Department of Engineering, in the School of Computing, Engineering and Digital Technologies, since November 2022. Her Teaching responsibilities are across all years, covering the modules:

Geetika, has been nominated in the 'Fantastic Feedback' category at the 'Star Awards' 2025 at Teesside University, UK.

She has also, been nominated in the category of 'Outstanding Teaching' at the 'Star Awards' 2024 at Teesside University, UK.

Prior to joining, 'Teesside University' she, has worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher (Nov 2019 - Oct 2022) at 'Nottingham Trent University', England, UK on Horizon 2020 cleansky EU project 'ComfDemo'. She has also actively worked on projects such as Smart Wearables - Non Invasive FECG Monitoring, Design of Robotic Arm and Modelling of Human Comfort in Extreme Environments.

Geetika completed her PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, UK (Oct 2015- Oct 2019). She was nominated for ‘Best Postgraduate who Teaches’ in the 2018 Student Led Teaching Awards. She has won theOutstanding Staff Member Award 2019’ in the 'Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering' at the 'Faculty of Engineering and Environment' at Northumbria University, UK. She has been the Chair of IEEE WIE (Women in Engineering) Student Branch and has actively organised several technical talks and social events. She was also the invited guest speaker to represent the 'Women in Engineering' from the PhD group at Northumbria University at the 'International Women in Engineering Day' 2018.

She is a 'Fellow of Higher Education Academy' (FHEA), member of 'Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers' (IEEE) and 'Institute of Engineering and Technology' (IET) in addition to the 'Executive Committee Member' of IET Teesside Local Network.

Summary of Research Interests

Geetika is active in research areas that are interdisciplinary involving IoT, Optical Wireless Communication, VLSI, VHDL, FPGA, Embedded Systems and Microcontrollers, AI, Computer Vision and Image Processing, Control Systems and Sensors, Energy Harvesting, Intelligent Energy Management, 6G and Beyond.

She has been nominated in 2025, under the category of  "Best Researcher Award" at the "International Research Awards on Sensing Technology".
