Accepting PhD Students
Gill moved from industry in to academia after gaining a first class honors’ degree in Psychology at Teesside University before registering for a PhD (awarded 2014). Her desire to pass on her combined business experience and understanding of people to students naturally led to securing a lecturing post at Teesside University Business School.
Gill has significant experience at Main Board Level within a number of sectors and is familiar with all elements of business. However, Gill's main interests is the use of positive psychology to foster effective working relationships and collaboration as a tool to develop stability and growth in organisations.
Gill is a chartered member of the British Psychological Society and also remains as a director and shareholder of a local property management and development organisation.
Gill’s main research interest is in developing new learning experiences and environments for students which in turn will enhance their university experience and employability prospects. Recent research activity has focused on the co-creation of curriculum with students and also students as partners in the use of innovative teaching methods.
Using her knowledge of Positive Psychology and adopting a coaching methodology Gill is happy to engage with employers on staff development activities for CPD portfolios.
Gill is interested in adopting 21st century teaching methods to help develop enhanced student experience in the classroom. Gill is leading on the implementation of new teaching methodologies across all areas of delivery within Teesside University Business School.
