Academic Biography
Harpreet Singh is an academic and researcher specialising in Computer Science, with a strong foundation in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. Currently a Tutor at Teesside University, Harpreet brings extensive experience in higher education, having held lecturing positions at institutions including Northeastern University London and the University of Hertfordshire.
Harpreet’s academic journey includes a PhD in Computer Science and an MSc in Artificial Intelligence with Robotics, both from the University of Hertfordshire, complemented by a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. His work bridges the gap between advanced technical research and pedagogical innovation, focusing on both the development of intelligent systems and the evaluation of modern teaching methodologies in the digital age.
Summary of Research & Enterprise Activities
My research trajectory is centred on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Educational Technology. I aim to develop robust computational models while exploring their ethical and practical implications within higher education and network infrastructure.
Core Research Themes:
-
Deep Learning & NLP: My research includes the development of complex models for sentiment analysis and text processing, notably exploring the use of BERT for generating contextualised textual images and employing BLSTM-ResNet architectures. I have also contributed to reducing the complexity of text-based neural models through Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA).
-
AI in Higher Education: I actively investigate the impact of emerging technologies on the student experience. My work includes descriptive and correlation studies on the perception of Large Language Models (like ChatGPT) in academic settings, as well as evaluating pedagogical frameworks such as the "Decoding the Disciplines" paradigm, to enhance the teaching of algorithm design.
-
Network Systems: I have applied my technical expertise to infrastructure challenges, specifically in the optimization of network architectures, such as mitigating broadcast propagation in BMA networks through Layer 3 uplinks.
Enterprise & Professional Engagement:
- Commercial Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Honored with the Engineers in Business Award for NiveshaQ, an investor education and awareness-focused initiative, which intends to help people to keep their financial knowledge up to date in a fun and interactive way.Flare Ignite | Engineers in Business University Competitions
-
Knowledge-Sharing: I am committed to disseminating research and actively participating in academic discourse. This includes contributions to global forums such as the "Knowledge-driven Analytics and Systems impacting Human Quality of Life" panel at CIKM.KDAH-CIKM-2023 - Panel Discussion
