Personal profile

Academic Biography

I completed my PhD within the School of Health and Life Sciences supervised by Professor Leah Avery, Dr Alison Innerd, Dr Kate Hallsworth, and Professor Stuart McPherson.

My PhD focussed on changing lifestyle behaviours of people with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver (MASLD) to promote and support weight loss.

Several studies form the basis of my PhD. These include a mixed-methods feasibiltiy study to evaluate and optimise a digital lifestyle behaviour change intervention for the management of MASLD in routine secondary care. I have also conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the effectiveness of digital behaviour change interventions for improving weight and liver-related outcomes in patients with MASLD. Finally, I have conducted a qualitative interview study with healthcare professionals in primary care settings to understand the barriers and enablers to detecting and managing MASLD in primary care.

I joined the School of Health and Life Sciences as a Research Associate in May 2022 and have worked on several projects since. As of October 2025 I am employed as a Research Associate across several projects in the SHLS.

I have a particular interest in behaviour change interventions, health promotion and liver disease in the context of health psychology and public health.
