Dr Ian Wood is a Senior Lecturer in Digital Music, Postgraduate Course Leader, and Postgraduate Admissions Tutor in the School of Computing. He is a member of the Intelligent Virtual Environments Research Group with interests in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and music/sound. He received a BSc in Computer Science from Warwick University, an MSc in Software Engineering and PhD in Computing (a formal framework to underpin the integration of software lifecycle phases) from Teesside University.
Teaching areas include A.I., music, sound, video, security, and web technologies.
Research interests centre around the application of A.I. to music/sound, sound and its relation to games and film (in collaboration with the Computer Games research group), and modelling of complex systems.
Collaboration with Eric Silverman at Glasgow University on complex modelling projects.
