I'm a principal lecturer in Computer Science in the School of Computing, focusing on Java Programming and Secure Data. I'm also a Teesside University graduate with a Bachelorsndegree in Computer Science and a Master's degree in Computing.
I spent many years working in Local Government finance before studying for my degree at Teesside as a mature student, from 1993 to 1997. I started working here in July 1997 and have been here ever since. This is the perfect job for me - I love seeing the students start as first years and then graduate 3 or 4 years later as educated adults, ready to take on the world. Helping them learn and making a difference is what it's all about.
I also work closely with the Associate Dean (Marketing & Recruitment) supporting the University's recruiment agenda. I work with an amazing team, and am passionate about providing a brilliant experience to all our visitors.

Enterprise Interest and Activities
13/11/14: Currently talking to large networking companies across the UK and internationally, to get industry input into the development of the new course I am leading on - Computer Security and Networks. We need to constantly update our subject knowledge, to help meet business demands, and I'm glad we have many business relationships to support this.
