Academic Biography
Jake Milner is a Post Graduate Research (PGR) Student and oral historian specialising in modern British history, regional industrial change, politics, and decarbonisation. He was awarded a degree in History from Teesside University in 2019 and a Masters in the same discipline in 2020. He was awarded a funded scholarship through Teesside University in 2022 to explore the impact of industrial and energy transition in the Tees Valley. His thesis investigates the development of Teesside’s industrial identity between 1973-2023, charting the region’s deindustrial narrative and its impact on contemporary green economic development. Other research areas of interest include the fall of the Attlee Government 1950-51, the political modernisation of the British Labour Party in the 1950s and early 1960s, and north east sport and folk dance culture.
