Academic Biography
Jane Knowlson is currently a Senior Lecturer for Primary Initial Teacher Training, leading modules on both the PGCE and BA routes.
Before working at the university, with 32 years experience in teaching and leadership, Jane was the Head Teacher of a primary school based in North Yorkshire.
With considerable experience in Special Educational Needs and Autism in primary education, Jane still works closely with SEND Teams across the Tees Valley.
Having extensive knowledge of Safeguarding, Jane was the Primary Educational Representative for Darlington Serious Case Review Partnership.
With support from The British Council, Jane has also delivered training to primary teachers in Spain.
Currently working with:
- Tees Valley Educational Trust
- MIMA- securing a funding bids to offer CPD to Primary schools within the Tees Valley
- Working with local youth organisations to support career aspirations of vulnerable, young people in the Tees Valley.
- Darlington SEND Team
