Academic Biography

Jawwad Latif joined Healthcare Innovation Centre at Teesside University/TWI Cambridge as a Research Associate. His current project is the development of Artificial Intelligence based iChair to improve quality of life for elder people.

Jawwad obtained his Ph.D. Degree from Bournemouth University, UK with a thesis titled ‘Ulterius Corrosion Health Monitoring (UCHM) using wireless sensor technologies’. His research was based on a multidisciplinary research approach to provide solutions to anticipate the condition of a metal structure in terms of corrosion damage and coating failure for proactive and optimal Condition-Based--Maintenance (CBM) decisions.

Jawwad holds a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila. His Master’s research project includes simulation analysis of various router architectures in Network-on-Chip (NoC) Technology. Jawwad holds Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from COMSATS, Islamabad. He developed various projects with automation industry.

Jawwad has experience of working on multidisciplinary research projects which resulted in  high-ranked journal and conference publications. He has extensive expertise in development including sensors interfacing, hardware and software programming.

Summary of Research Interests

Jawwad research interest lies in the following areas:

  • Healthcare applications based on Artificial Intelligence algorithms (neural networks, machine learning)
  • Structural monitoring systems of large metal structures in terms of corrosion and coating failures
  • Router architectures within Network-On-Chip technology
