Academic Biography

Jo Irving-Walton is the Principal Lecturer International for the School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Law at Teesside University (TU). She is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA) and a Recognised Leader in Advising (RLA, UKAT). 

Prior to joining TU Jo worked in a variety of educational roles within schools, local authorities and for the Department for Education. She also has experience of working internationally and within the private sector.

Since joining Teesside University in 2013, Jo has undertaken a range of roles including Principal Lecturer Education (Quality and Partnerships), Principal Lecturer Learning and Teaching and Acting Associate Dean Learining and Teaching.

Her research interests are linked to the relationship between emotion and cognition across educational sectors. Jo continues to undertake consultancy in the areas of edcuational leadership and management and in realtion to the development of learning and teaching.
