Academic Biography
Josh joined the University in early 2017 as a Senior Lecturer in Learning Disabilities, having gained broad clinical experience in adult learning disability and mental health services, including clinical management. As a Teesside University graduate (2011), he holds professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a 1st level Registered Nurse in Learning Disabilities. He is the current Course Leader for undergraduate, pre-registration Nursing (Learning Disabilities) having a range of oversight and input into the curriculum and associated activities.
He gained his Master of Science degree in 2018 from Portsmouth University which focussed on applied psychology of intellectual disabilities, and also gained his teaching qualification in 2018 with the University which is additionally registered with the NMC. He is currently studying a Professional Doctorate, the focus of which will be on professional practice around learning disability nursing with particular interest in attitudes and perceptions of the profession.
Summary of Research Interests
Current research interests are around professional practice in learning disability nursing.
