Academic Biography
Kehinde O. Omotoso holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Pretoria. She is currently a Lecturer in Economics at Teesside University International Business School (TUIBS). She has experience and expertise in quantitative research techniques, economic development, value chain analysis, policy impact assessments, and a wide range of modern econometric techniques. She is a dynamic development economist with great analytical, leadership, and communication skills. Her research and policy experience spans over a decade during which she has gained a deep understanding of impact evaluation of policy interventions in sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. She conducts innovative and evidence-based research that proffer solutions to global development policies and program challenges in areas of environment, education, poverty, climate change, financial inclusion, inequality, health inequity, gender issues, labour market, food insecurity, and socio-economic dimensions of economic shocks.
She has a proven experience of developing micro and macroeconomic models to inform policies to aid strategic plans for advocacy and solution-based research on SDG goals and targets. She has been a consultant to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on climate change, environment and socio-economic impact assessment. She has also worked with seasoned economists and inter-disciplinary experts on several national and international projects which include the World Bank STEP-B research project, Partnership for Economic policy (PEP) projects, African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) and other international donors’ projects on socio-economic impact evaluation and assessment of public policies relating to climate change, poverty dynamics, financial inclusion, inequality, and gender issues addressing relevant questions for long-term development. She has developed and mentored upcoming economists of different nationalities that have been trained on quantitative tools to undertake an impact evaluation of projects and interventions. She contributes regularly to the policy discourse on attainment of sustainable development goals (SDGs) in SSA. She has presented several research papers in both national and international conferences, seminars and workshops. She has a number of research articles published in reputable journals to her credits.
