Personal profile

Academic Biography

I am a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a final year PhD researcher in the School of Health and Life Sciences.

My research and experience is focused around developement and evaluation of behaviour change interventions in populations with long-term conditions. I have expereince with both the design and systematic development of evidence-based interventions and the implementation of interventions within a health setting. I have previously developed and delivered a theory-informed training intervention to equip lifestyle behaviour coaches with the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver a behavioural intervention to adults with type 2 diabetes in the UK, the Netherlands and Dussledorf.

Currently my PhD research aims to systematically develop a theory-informed and evidence-based training intervention for healthcare professionals to support their heart failure patients to increase their levels of physical activity. The development of the training intervention will be informed by a systematic review, interviews and collaboration with healthcare professionals, and is guided by the Behaviour Change Wheel (BCW). The training intervention and resources developed aims to optimise consultation behaviour and improve the translation of the latest evidence into routine practice.
