Academic Biography
Laura is a HCPC Registered Forensic Psychologist and her background is as a practitioner within HMPPS. She joined the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Law at Teesside University as a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychology in 2022. Laura completed her BSc (Hons) at Northumbria Universityin 2009 and her MSc Investigative and Forensic Psychology at the University of Liverpool in 2012.
Before joining Teesside University, Laura worked for the prison service for over 12 years. She has extensive experience of managing and delivering group-based interventions to offenders who were high risk of general violence and intimate partner violence (IPV). She has experience in undertaking risk assessments in relation violence, IPV, arson, and sexual offending, and is trained to assess and diagnose personality disorders. Laura is also a trained Negotiator Advisor (NA).
Academic Responsibilities
Laura is Course Director for the MSc Forensic Psychology and Module Leader for the 'Assessment and Interventions in Forensic Practice' and 'Applied Skills in Forensic Practice' modules on the MSc. She also supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students.
