Academic Biography

 

Dr Layal Isskandarani is a Lecturer in Economics at Teesside University since May 2024, and the course leader for BSc (Hons) Business Economics since January 2025. She has a Fellowship and an External Examiner certificate from the Advance HE. Prior to this, Layal has worked as the Coordinator for the Postgraduate Programmes at the School of Management and Economics of the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr, (September- April 2024), and as the Chair of the Department of Finance (2017-2021) in parallel to being a Coordinator of Economics and Statistics subject areas (2017-2023) at the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS) in Lebanon.

Dr Isskandarani has worked as a Lecturer in Economics, Finance, Strategic Management, and Statistics subject areas in the HE sector for over a decade. She also delivered sessions on Finance in Poland and Spain as a visiting Lecturer. During 2013-2023, Dr Isskandarani taught Level 4-7 Economics, Finance, and Business Management modules of the Cardiff School of Management (UK) at MUBS.

Layal Isskandarani holds a Doctor of Business Administration degree (Specialisation: International Trade in Education Services) from the University of Staffordshire (UK) and is greatly interested in the areas of Economics, Finance, and International Business. She is involved in research supervision of master and doctoral-level students and demonstrates a strong commitment to research-informed teaching, innovative pedagogy, and collaborative research.
