Academic Biography
Lucy Philipson, Senior Lecturer, Teesside University International Business School
Lucy brings to Teesside University, 20 years of experience in international development after working her way up from volunteer to CEO at COCO (Comrades of Children Overseas) a charity working to alleviate poverty in East African communities.
Lucy has experience of leadership, fundraising, governance, project management, marketing and human resource management. Ambitious, honest, and driven by purpose, Lucy is passionate about change for good, international relations, equality, education, development, poverty alleviation and commitment to accountability.
Lucy studied Urban and Regional Geography at Sheffield Hallam University, after which she completed a Masters in Development Studies at the University of KwaZulu Natal in Durban, South Africa. In 2015 Lucy graduated from Newcastle University Business School with an MBA with distinction and was the chosen orator at the graduation ceremony.
An advocate for leadership, skill sharing and authenticity, Lucy regularly takes part in charity activities for COCO and has to date sumitted Mount Kilimanjaro ran the Great North Run, cycled across Maasai Land in Kenya and trekked to Machu Pichu.
