Academic Biography
Lynn is an experienced teacher of disadvantaged children from EYFS to KS5 in both mainstream and special schools and has spent many years helping people understand the impact of adversity and childhood trauma on children’s mental and physical health and on their learning and school experience. Her interests include trauma-informed learning and teaching and helping educators create environments for trauma-experienced children that will enable them to realise their academic potential.
Alongside her work at the university, Lynn is the Trauma-Informed Practice Programme Lead at a local Multi-Academy Trust of five primary schools.
Learning and Teaching Interests and Activities
Lynn created the MA Education (Trauma-Informed Practice) and PgCert Trauma-Informed Learning and Teaching courses, teaches the module Helping Traumatised Children Learn and supervises MA dissertations.
External Roles and Professional Activities
Lynn is a Trustee at the Attachment Research Community and a member of the Barnardo's Education Community Steering Group.
She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
