Academic Biography

Dr. Mansoor Soomro is a management scholar and a Future of Work enthusiast. He works as a Senior Lecturer in Sustainability and International Business at the Teesside University International Business School. He is also the Enterprise and Innovation Lead at the Future of Work Research Unit and Course/Programme Leader for MBA.

He holds a strong international corporate background of working with SIEMENS in more than 10 countries and managing a diverse multicultural team of more than 500 executives for over 7 years. He served on the SIEMENS Middle East I&C Managing Board and enjoyed his senior-level appointments as the Regional Head of Performance Management with Siemens Asia Pacific and Head of Commercial Operations with Siemens Middle East.

His research, commentary, insights, and contributions have been featured on the BBC, CNN, ITV News, EuroNews, TalkTV, Newsweek, The Independent, Harvard Business Publishing, Raconteur, WorkLife News, AACSB, CABS, EEUK, Yahoo, and multiple other prominent international media outlets.

As a futurist and thought leader, he stays ahead of the curve, continuously exploring emerging trends, and identifying opportunities that unlock new possibilities for businesses and their talent. By championing a human-centric approach to work, he bridges the gap between technology and people, ensuring that organizations thrive amidst rapid change.

Dr Mansoor is also a member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council (an opt-in research community of business professionals) and a member of the Strategic Management Society (USA). He is the host of the ‘In Conversation’ podcast, whereby he interviews speakers from the worlds of business, culture, and sports. He is a certified HRDF Trainer (Malaysia), certified REACH Practitioner (USA), certified LDP Trainer (Australia) and certified Business Edge-IFC Trainer (World Bank). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), accredited by the AdvanceHE.

  • In May 2013, got invited to speak at the Harvard Business Club of New York (HBNY). Also, got featured through his article post on ‘Corporate Citizenship’ in the Harvard Business Review bulletin. Thereon, was given a chance as a Panelist to collaborate on the topic ‘Employer of Choice’ at Harvard Live-cast
  • In June 2013, was selected as one of the Top3 Future Influencers and was showcased by CNN
  • Got selected as one of the 30 Global Young Leaders by the World Bank. Thereon, was invited to participate in the Global Youth Forum 2010 that was convened in Brussels (Belgium)
  • In Jan 2011, became Board Member of Siemens MEA I&C Managing Board (the youngest board member to be on the functional cross-country Managing Board in the region)
  • Won the Best Writer Award by The Financial Daily Newspaper for article ‘Occupational Safety in Pakistan’
  • Fetched the Diplomacy Award in United Nations Model Conference at Lahore University of Management Sciences
  • Chosen as the Best Contributor in the Global Siemens Sustainability Idea Contest for business idea, ‘Siemens Products; Transition from High-Quality to High-Worth’

Learning and Teaching Interests and Activities

To Dr. Mansoor, teaching and research go hand in hand. He is of the view that research enables him to think deeper, and teaching takes it further by elaborating and discussing that subject matter with a wider audience. He contemplates teaching through 21st century teaching methods as a vital component of his role as a senior faculty member with Teesside University. His sessions and simulations are moslty agile, pragmatic, and situational.
