Academic Biography

Mark has been a member of the medical imaging team since 2011, joining the university from the private sector. Mark's previous roles include designing bespoke endovascular devices for patients with complex thoraco-abdominal aneurysms and dissections, and as a Specialist Radiographer at Gateshead Health Foundation Trust. There he worked within the interventional radiology, cardiac catheter and Computed Tomography departments.

Mark has a previous undergraduate degree in Pharmacology from the University of Liverpool, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in HE from Teesside University. He is currently a studying for a PhD where his focus is on the day-to-day interactions of radiographers and other healthcare professions. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Summary of Research Interests

Mark’s current PhD research focusses on the interactions of radiographers with other healthcare professionals in the management of the patient. This includes a number of aspects of care including teamwork, paediatric imaging, professionalism, power, and shared goals.

Mark’s other interests include continuing professional development, interventional radiology, computed tomography, course design, and technology enhanced learning.
