Academic Biography

 

Michelle is a Lecturer in Policing at the School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Law.

 

Michelle graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Crime Scene Science and an MSc in Forensic Investigations, both from Teesside University. Additionally, she obtained a qualification in Forensic Laboratory Officers' foundational skills from College of Policing.

 

Michelle has served in the Cleveland Police Scientific Support Department for several years, where she gained experience in the Forensic Laboratory, Crime Scene Investigation, and Quality; this included assisting in the implementation and maintenance of ISO 17020/17025 accreditation. Michelle has also held various roles within the control rooms of Durham and North Yorkshire Police.

 

Michelle’s research interests include:

  • Development of quality standards and their impact on crime scene investigation
  • Chemical enhancement techniques at crime scenes
  • Ethics, Equality, and Diversity in Policing
