Academic Biography
Pat is a Research Fellow at Teesside University specialising in evaluating health and social care interventions and Social Return on Investment evaluations. Before her return to Teesside University Pat worked in a variety of research roles including Research Consultant for Social Development Direct which involved working on a long term national evaluation for the ODPM involving community safety, anti-social behaviour, participatory methodologies. Other research experience includes the evaluation of a Community Safety Initiative for the Scottish Government, end of life care services, service user involvement, continued professional development, adult social care and care for the elderly in the community, mental health, learning disabilities and dual sensory loss. Pat has good experience of working at national, regional and local levels.
Pat's research interests continue to be involving hard to reach groups in the research process both as participants and advisors and designing participatory tools to enhance engagement e.g. people with learning disabilities, elderly people, and children. Other interests include the evaluation of community based public health interventions, access to health services, adult social care, social return on investment processes and methods and a wide range of research and evaluation methodologies
