Peter is a physicist who spent four years working for ICI on Teesside, first in polymer research and then in manufacturing quality control.
He joined Durham Constabulary where he worked for 12 years as a Crime Scene Examiner, Senior Crime scene Examiner and Acting Crime scene Manager, dealing with offences including abduction, homicide and terrorism, gaining particular experience of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and distraction burglary offences.
At Teesside Peter has a diverse teaching portfolio, exploiting his first degree as the basis for teaching Physics and Mathematics and his second degree as the basis for teaching modules aimed at delivering legal principles to forensic practioners, as well as other forensic skills.
Currently the Course Leader for the Environmental Cluster, he is also delivering courses related to energy generation.
He delivers curriculum enhancing talks in secondary schools and colleges on crime investigation and the advantages of driverless cars.
Peter is the Secretary of a spin-out company "Chemicam" set up to exploit contactless blood detection technology developed at Teesside University
