Pippa Dodsworth

I am a lecturer in Occupational Therapy and am currently acting course lead for the Assistant Practiitioner Course. I have been a facilty member since September 2023. With over 20 years experience as a senior Occupational Therapist within the NHS, I specialised in Intermediate care settings, Community rehabilitation, Stroke rehabilitation and Social services. I have worked as senior occupational therapist within a reablement team where the focus was on enabling older adults to regain their independence through rehabilitation and falls prevention.

My primary interests include promoting independence and safety within the home environment for older persons and optimising rehabilitation strategies.

In my current role as Acting course lead for the Assistant practitioner course, I oversee specialities that include Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Diagnostic Radiography, Operating Department Practice and Nursing routes.

In addition to this role I am also actively involved in the SIM program which is a CPD event that is aimed at Band 5 Allied Health professionals (AHP's) and Nurses in practice. This programme includes a scenario based training event that focuses on the escalation of care for deteriorating patients, enhancing clinical decision making and response in critical situations.

I am a member of the Royal college of Occupational Therapy (RCOT) and also maintain my registration as an Occupational Therapist with Health and Care Professionals council (HCPC)
