External Roles and Professional Activities
Rachel is an Industry Professional bringing workplace practices to teaching. Her 20 years expertise spans Corporate Communications, Marketing, Branding & PR, working at a strategic level across IT, Telecommunications, Retail, FMCG and Education sectors. Additionally, she runs a community interest company aiming to raise aspirations of young people. Rachel’s academic focus includes improving T&L via process-based delivery model research (shared at Advance HE symposium 9/112022), developing a digital-future-ready degree apprenticeship course, CPD industry focused courses, creating sharable digital teaching & learning materials which embrace communication design and pedagogy reflecting her role as Adobe Creative Campus Lead.
With previous experience of running her own results-focused communications consultancy, she also brings a broad set of industry experiences including Design, Digital Training and background in Architecture and Design.
Academic Biography
Rachel is working in these areas:
- Developing a future-ready workplace-based degree apprenticeship course.
- Developing short 16-week CPD industry focused courses to plug business needs.
- Improving Teaching and Learning process-based delivery models (Using Active Research experiments aiming to deliver student and colleague benefits) shared at conferences: Three Rivers Conferene June 2022, Teesside University Future Facing Learning Conference June 2022 and Advance HE Symposium 9th Nov 2022.
- Creating shared teaching materials which embrace communication, design and pedagogic principles to maximise efficiency.
- Ensuring courses embrace digital literacy and inclusion.
- Adobe Creative Campus Lead.
