Academic Biography
Rosie is Director of Student and Library Services at Teesside University.
She is a leader and advocate in information literacy, playful learning, and inclusive education, driven by a passion for innovation and student engagement. She brokers ‘third space’ collaborations and partnerships between academic and professional staff to create transformative learning experiences. Rosie's influence extends from local initiatives to national and international projects, shaping sector-wide approaches to information literacy and playful learning.
She has spearheaded innovative, award-winning learning spaces, information literacy programmes, responded to government inquiries, contributed to national digital literacy frameworks, and co-authored the national Information Literacy definition. She has actively fostered partnerships to advance digital transformation, earning recognition as a Jisc Community Champion in 2025 for her impactful contributions. Her commitment to playful learning is equally significant: contributing to the founding of national and international networks, and a core team member of the Playful Learning Association, she played a pivotal role in securing the 2024 collaborative CATE award. Rosie also co-chairs the Playful Learning Conference, championing inclusive approaches to playful practice.
She is a Principal Fellow of Adance HE and also a National Teaching Fellow.

Research Projects & External Funding
Rosie is currently partner lead on RE:PLAY at three year ESRC funded project that aims to explore how playful approaches to teaching and learning are being used in UK HE and evidence what works and why.
