Academic Biography
Dr Sally Neaum has worked as an early years and primary school teacher, an early years and inclusion advisory teacher and an OFSTED inspector of early years provision.
She teaches on a range of post- graduate programmes and is an academic supervisor at both masters and doctoral level. Sally also teaches undergraduate modules on early literacy and pedagogy, and on the Initial Teacher Training programme.
Sally has a masters degree in Educational Psychology and Special Educational Needs and her doctoral research was in the pedagogy of early literacy. Sally has published a number of books on early literacy, including phonics, child development, and children’s literature. Her areas of research and publication include, children’s engagement with literacy provision, pedagogical approaches to young children's learning, and early learning experiences that enable children to access later school-based phonics teaching.
