Academic Biography
Sam Alexandra Rose is a writer, editor and three-times cancer survivor. In 2017 she passed her Masters in Creative Writing with Distinction and in 2019 she began her PhD, researching the relationship between creative writing and cancer survivorship issues. As a cancer survivor with rare genetic condition CMMRD, she has an interest in psychosocial oncology and issues around emotional and mental wellness during and after treatment, as well as writing and wellbeing.
Sam has had over 80 poetry and prose pieces published in over 50 magazines, journals and anthologies. She hsa published two memoirs, "Gut Feelings: Coping with Cancer and Living with Lynch Syndrome" and "the CMMRD book", and has contributed articles to several cancer and chronic illness websites and blogs. She works as a Patient and Public Involvement Manager for Bowel Research UK, where she is involved in several research studies and publications related to bowel cancer and bowel disease.
