Academic Biography
I completed my PhD in Health Psychology at Northumbria University examining the psychobiological mechanisms underpinning the association between Type D personality and physical health complaints. After my PhD I stayed at Northumbria to work on the 'Healthy Sleep Project' in collaboration with The Sleep Council, and was also involved in a project developing an intervention for alleviating fatigue in healthcare professionals. I then moved to the Mental Health and Addictions Research Group at the University of York where I worked on a number of research projects at the interface of somatic and mental health. I am a chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and serve on the BPS Research Board as an Early Career Representative. My research interests lie within the broad areas of health, biological psychology and mental health. I am particularly interested in individual differences in stress and resilience; sleep health; and the experience of somatic symptoms. I am also interested in student mental health and trauma-informed approaches to mental health support in this population.
