Academic Biography

Dr Sohel Ahmed is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Teesside University International Business School. He holds a PhD in Management (specializing in marketing) from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Malaysia (UTP is ranked #361 in the QS Global World Rankings 2023). Sohel worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics and Business Studies at Mazoon College for over two years before joining Teesside in January 2021. Mazoon College is a prestigious Higher Education Institution in Oman, collaborating with Perdue University Northwest and Missouri University of Science and Technology from the United States. He also served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the School of Business Administration at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. Previously, he worked for four years as a Tutor in the Management and Humanities Department at Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Malaysia.

Sohel is an active researcher, consistently engaged in new projects. His research focuses on consumer psychology, marketing, scale development, and quantitative methods. He has published numerous articles in highly regarded journals, including those rated by the Association of Business Schools (ABS) and the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) as category A. These journals include the Journal of Strategic Marketing, the International Journal of Market Research, and the Service Industries Journal. Sohel also contributes as an external examiner for postgraduate research committees, academic programs, and other organisations. He reviews research papers for esteemed journals and conferences such as the Journal of Business Research (JBR), the International Journal of Market Research (IJMR), and the American Marketing Association (AMA), among others.
