Dr Steven MacDonald is a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist [PYL37389]. He completed his undergraduate studies in Glasgow in 2009, and undertook his clinical training at Teesside University graduating with the ‘Best Overall Trainee Performance’ award in 2019. Since qualifying, he has worked as a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist in adult learning disability services in Durham. He has developed specialist skills in the delivery of psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention with individuals with a learning disability, and their systems of care. His therapeutic interests lay within systemic family therapy, and he has also completed further training in trauma-informed interventions.
Steven was awarded the PgDip in Clinical Neuropsychology via the University of Glasgow in 2023, gaining the necessary knowledge component for the Qualification in Clinical Psychology (QiCN) and has a clinical interest in utilising this knowledge and expertise within learning disability services.
Steven was appointed as a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme in September 2022. He occupies numerous roles on the programme including Clinical Tutor, Personal and Professional Development Tutor, Academic Supervisor for Advanced Independent Work (AIW / Thesis), and Senior Lecturer with teaching focused within learning disability, neuropsychology and neurodegenerative conditions, gender and sexuality.
