Academic Biography
Dr. Syed Moudud-Ul-Huq is a Lecturer in Accounting & Finance at the Department of Digital Innovation, Sustainability, & Specialist Industries (DISSI) within Teesside University International Business School. He holds a PhD in Business Administration (Finance) and is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA Australia), a Certified Management and Business Educator (CMBE), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
His primary research expertise lies at the intersection of banking, risk management, and corporate governance, with a strong focus on emerging economies. Dr. Moudud-Ul-Huq’s work investigates critical themes such as capital regulation, competition, diversification, and the impacts of financial technology (Fintech) and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors on financial stability and performance. He has a robust publication record, with numerous articles in highly ranked international journals, including several ABS-3/2 and ABDC 'A' ranked outlets. His research has also been supported by competitive grants from bodies such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and other international institutions.
With extensive teaching experience across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, both in Bangladesh and the UK, he currently leads modules in Contemporary Management in Operations and Finance, Governance and Sustainability, Accounting Essentials for Business Success, Applied Mathematics and Statistics for Economists, and Independent Project at Teesside University. He also serves as the Lead Administrator for the LSEG Database at TUIBS.
Dr. Moudud-Ul-Huq is an active contributor to the academic community, serving as an Editor for Humanities and Social Sciences Communications and Academic Editor for PLOS ONE and a reviewer for several prestigious journals including Business Strategy and the Environment, Research in International Business and Finance, Annals of Operations Research etc. His professional affiliations include the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA) and the Bangladesh Accounting Association (BAA). He brings significant academic leadership experience, having previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies and Head of the Department of Accounting and Business Administration at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Bangladesh.
