Academic Biography

Dr Tariq Galadanchi Ahmed is a Senior Lecturer in Engineering in the School of Computing Engineering and Digital Technologies. He holds the Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining and is also a member of the Energy Institute (EI) and Society of Petroleum Engineering (SPE). Tariq completed his BEng (Hons) in Chemistry from Kano University of Science and Technology Wudil, MSc in Petroleum Engineering, and a PhD in Separator Optimisation both from Teesside University. His research is mainly focused on Separator optimisation, CFD modelling of surface separation equipment, and Hydrogen Fuel.

BEng Tech (Hons) Chemical and Process Engineering (Online)

Dr Ahmed is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and holds a postgraduate certificate in learning and teaching in higher education (PGCLTHE). He is the module leader for Thermodynamics for Chemical Engineers and Chemical Process Design and a module tutor for Heat Transfer, Practical Skills for Chemical Engineers and Advanced Fluid Mechanics.
In the past, Dr Ahmed was a module tutor for Teesside University Online Learning for Engineering (TUOLE) where he taught Engineering Design, Engineering Applications, Mass and Energy Balance and Mass Transfer Operations.

External Research Collaborations

Tariq has worked closely with several companies and organisations such as Lancaster University, Minus7, Atos, SEIMENS, sorea, Newcastle University, ASM Terni spA, University of Cyprus and Lisboa E-Nova. Tariq’s comprehensive analysis of Darby Tech Separator contributed to securing funding for a follow-on PhD student and helped foster an ongoing collaboration with Darby Tech. Tariq has also worked closely with Middlesbrough College, TTE, Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC) and the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
