Accepting PhD Students
Dr Thomas Oliver joined Teesside as Lecturer in Mathematics in 2021. Prior to starting this role, he held postdoctoral research fellowships at the Universities of Bristol, Nottingham, and Oxford. He completed his undergraduate degree (MMath) at Durham University, and his PhD in mathematics at the University of Nottingham.
Dr Oliver has broad research interests, and has published articles in the areas of number theory, representation theory, and machine-learning. He has organised several international conferences and workshops in these areas, and delivered lectures at many more events accross the globe.
Dr Oliver is an experienced teacher of undergraduate mathematics, and, before arriving at Teesside, delivered modules in Bristol, Oxford, and Nottingham. Moreover he has supervised a number of student projects, two of which have resulted in published articles.
