Academic Biography

Dr Yongsheng Guo was awarded a PhD in Accounting and an MPhil in International Finance at the University of Glasgow, and an MBA in Engineering Management at Tsinghua University in China. Before becoming an academic, Yongsheng worked at the China Construction Bank as a Financial Accountant and Bank Manager for eight years.

He was a teacher and researcher at Glasgow University from January 2000 and moved to Teesside in July 2007. He then became programme leader for the MSc Accounting and Finance, and postgraduate tutor for research.<

Yongsheng has qualifications in higher education, accounting and finance, and economics. He teaches financial accounting, financial planning and control, financial reporting, regulation and analysis, corporate finance and international finance.

Summary of Research Interests

Banking and risk management have been key areas of Dr Guo’s research interests, with a particular emphasis on financial institutions. Further research interests have included corporate governance, corporate performance and financial services. Present research projects are focused on corporate social responsibility and corporate performance.
