Academic Biography

Dr Yongsheng Guo was awarded a PhD in Accounting and an MPhil in International Finance by the University of Glasgow in the UK, and an MBA in Engineering Management by Tsinghua University and a BSc in Chemistry by Zhengzhou University in China. Before becoming an academic, Yongsheng worked in China Construction Bank as a financial manager for eight years.

He was a researcher and lecturer in Glasgow University since January 2000 and moved to Teesside Universit in July 2007. He then became a programme leader for MSc Accounting and Finance, and postgraduate tutor (PGT) for research.<

Yongsheng has qualifications in higher education, accounting and finance, and economics. He teaches financial accounting, financial planning and control, financial reporting, regulation and analysis, international corporate finance, ethics, governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Summary of Research Interests

Yongsheng has been doing research in relationship banking, financial innovation, corporate governance and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Currently he is conducting research in ethical and enveromental issues, sustainable finance and investment. As a Chinese researcher he is particularly interested in cross-cultural studies in transnational education (TNE), overseas consumer behaviour and forign direct investment (FDI).
